Some Ling Spots Around PT new
      #185974 - 05/10/05 08:57 PM

Try the Port Townsend Ship Canal when the tide change isn't ripping thru it. West side is rip and boulders and there are two jetties at the southern end. 15 to 25 feet deep throughout the entire canal. Watch out for a lot of boat traffic. You'll find cutts and resident silvers feeding along the shoreline rips when the thing is flowing.

Point Hudson marina jetty walls hold some nice lings....you'll find some other large structures around it.

Off the old dock at Fort Flagler State Park you'll find an old artificial reef in 50 feet of water. There are some Green lings on this one also. Eatem or use for bait.

Port Angeles...Ediz Hook. Inside the point off the Pilot Boat Station. Tons of old logs litter the bottom and so do the Lings. Fishing depths can be as shallow as 25 feet and as deep as 80. You can run into Black rockfish in schools here.

Point Wilson and off North Beach at Port Townsend will produce also.

If you do fish these spots consider limiting your take to just a couple Lings. The populations are doing fine but thats no reason to fill the freezer.

Can you fish from a public pier here? Or is this more of a boat fishing area? I am looking for a fun to fish pier to head to this Friday and was wondering if PT was the place to try?

Thanks!
Ken

All boat fishing that I know of at those spots. Although you might be able to fish the jetties at the south end of the Port Townsend Ship Canal.....there's a county park on both sides.
