Im sorta new to hunting so i was wondering where is the best place to shoot a deer, bear, cougar, elk, ect. Im talking about shot placement. I shoot a 270win and a 300 win. mag.

I've also had luck with shooting deer right through the shoulder. Probably not advisable for elk though.

I concur with these guys about that shot placement. But I highly recommend that you get down to the local hunting shop and get a hold of something, anything that you can study to learn the vitals. They change with the angle of the animal and distance you are. Whether you are in a stand or simply above them. Below them, they are quartered away or toward you. These are big differences that should be learned. It can be the difference between getting a clean kill and wounding an animal that you never find. Just my two cents.

I too would have to agree. Here is a link that describes it fairly well depending upon what you are using (bow,muzzleloader,or rifle) and the reasons. Just remember it is always better to have a good, clean, one shot kill than to have the animal run off never to be found. I here alot of people brag about following blood trails for hours and finally finding the animal but to me that is just cruelty to the animal. Shot Placement Tips
