Here is a nice halibut we caught on Saturday 4-21-07. We caught it in 300’ of water in the Straights of Juan De Fuca. We were using a Batson/Tough Stick with the acid wrap design / Spiral Wrap /Roberts Wrap/ (what ever you might want to call it) it is 6’6” with 13 guides…We landed this fish in about 10 minutes and I believe that the design of the Rod and the wrap had a lot to do with this feat. “ R&D at it’s BEST>>>>>>>

We named our bait about five years ago called Taco Smell. Taco is a term used in Hawaii for octopus. From my experience the taco stays on if your other bait falls off or is taken off by some pesky unown so your alwase fishing. I found three fish in its belly about 5 inches long its alwase good to check. I have some other tricks too as we all do but I wont get into details out of respect to my mentors but I think it makes me more confident then anything because those things are built to eat.
My dad reeled in a 111# and a 40# same set up.I think its just about electric reel time for him but makes me proud to see him still standing up with the Boys. I will treasure every crank he is able to do and wont give him any slack, you can see his grin a mile away, priceless!

Hope to catch more than the crab pot we cranked up from 350' Last Sat.
Pug got his workout for sure, and Chris and I handlined it as well.

Nice new MacKay crab pot! Sells for about $50 I believe. Knock off on the design my shrimp/crab pot maker came up with.

My Bro and wife and kid showed up friday nite, and I took them out Butt fishin' sat morn. NW wind at 20-25 knts, 2-3 ft chop, two of 'em seasick in 45 min.... OK I say, let's go.
Kid sayes his rig is stuck  , I look over and told hin, "no, that's head shakes , put down your purse and reel!!!" Got a 40#er, every one was happy!!
If we could have stayed out at that spot, I'm thinkin we could have cleaned up. 
Oh well, I got the numbers, and will be back out there.
