Think it's time to be looking for a new rig, I'm open to all opinions. I lean towards Chevy, but that's because that's all I've had. Sort of interested in the Dodges, Fords I find uncomfortable.
Sort of looking for the bad things to watch out for in the 2002-2005 range in Chevy,Dodge and Fords.
For example I thought I heard something about the tranny in the chevys.
Looking at possible diesel, cause eventually I'll get a sled 22'to 23' range. Maybe a little trailering, my mom and dad have one 20'er. Realistically only gonna tow something2-3 times a month if that. Gas is not out of the question, have heard people talkin good about the new tundra. Don't know when but heard tundra will be getting a diesel sometime.
So let's hear it.

First off, HBD Hoof
Second, I'm sure no one here has an opinion
Now for the unimportant stuff
I have nothing bad to say about my '05 F150 5.4L V8 (gas) auto tranny in the FX4 package except that the passenger seat isn't as comfy as the driver's seat. I know, it's an easy fix- just always be the driver.
I chose the doors that open opposingly because I found it easier to get things into the rear seats vs all doors opening the same way.

Should've added atleast 3/4 ton and crew cab long box. That's why I lean toward the chevy, seems like it has the most room, except for the Dodge mega cab, haven't actually seen it yet.
Would I really need a 3500 non dually. Probably get away with just a 3/4 ton.

A crew cab long box is a huge truck with an awful turn radius. I'd consider going dually/diesel while you are at it. If you go dually/diesel, you'll have enough capacity to do almost anything later.

Hoof, I had a 1999 3/4 ton Ford 4X4 extended cab with the 5.4L gas motor. It was a gutless pig. I upgraded to the 2005 3/4 ton For 4X4 crew cab long bed with the Powerstroke. It hauls my sled like it isn't there. It gets 17 mpg on the highway. It has more power than I need, but while running on the road, it just idles along.
I have nothing bad to say about my truck. I know the Chevy and Dodge diesel trucks (at least the newest generation) all have a bunch of power, so pulling your future boat won't be a problem.
I liked the leg room in the Ford. I also like the way it steers vs the Dodge and chevy. I drove a buddies Dodge, and it seemed to get sluggish in the steering when I let off the gas (as the RPM's dropped). I have been told the chevys do the same thing. If you think about it, this is contrary to what you need, as in...when you are nearing a corner on the highway, you will back off the throttle to slow down, and then the steering gets sluggish. That was the only thing about the Dodge I didn't like.
The Chevy's ride more like a Caddy than my Ford. The Duramax with the new Allison transmissions are supposed to be really good (according to the Chevy guys I know).
I really don't think you can go too wrong with any of the new trucks.

Hoof,
I have an 2006 Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4 quadcab short box with the cummins diesel. I ABSOLUTELY love it. It's my first diesel. Tons of power and I get 16mpg kicking around town and 18 + on the freeway. Not bad for a heavy duty 3/4ton 4x4 pickup. One draw back on the quad cab is it''s smaller than the others crew cabs as far as legroom goes. The megacab is a whole nother animal. I like my shortbox for the daily driving (drives like a car) as the schlong box turning radius is worse. But, if you bump you head like I did by not thinking of adding a camper down the road, your options are limited. I drove them all before I bought. I liked the body style of the Dodge over the chevy, plus the duramax was about 3KJ more than the cummins. The Fords (at the time) were too noisy and didn't seem to have as much giddyup. Chevys seem to ride nicer.
Opinions are like............ bellybuttons... everyone has one.

B.H., I added a photo so that u know I' m not full of B.S. I truly do not think that you can go wrong with any of the recent dodge products. I was a die hard GMC guy for about 20 yrs. I got my first dodge in 01. The thing that attracted me was "value". I got more bang outta my buck for a dodge than I could with a Ford or GM. With that said I think that any American made truck will out perform and outlast any import, when it comes to the larger models. My own personal experience with my 04 dodge (the black truck) is awesome! I tweaked it a little bit. I chipped it and put 4" exhaust from the turbo back, and can put 8 horses in my 20' trailer and go upthe hills down the hills across the flat... anywhere i can go as far and as fast as i want. I have not pulled much yet with my 07 mega cab, but it runs the same as my 04 did when it was new. as far as comfort, the mega cab is awesome but the quad cab has tons of room in my mind for anything your gonna do day to day. and oh ya back to that value thing, shop and compare. even if i say it again.. its seems like i get more bang for my buck out of a dodge. happy shopping!

Doesn't showing you have two Dodges prove you are full of B.S.

LOL, Jim. I have 4 dodges but just thought the type of truck B.H. was interested in would be the ones that I might have a humble opinion on. On that subject, I get 23-20 mpg on the 04, empty, doing 70mph. 10-15mpg loaded with my foot in it.I have not put a lick of work into any dodge I have ever owned, exept an altanor on an 01 after 120k . Not saying they are the best truck out there but they have worked well for me, Any of the U.S. made bigger trucks are good rides.

My 2005 2500 HD Chevy W/ Allison Duramax combo does anything I ask it to without any complaints ... Including pulling the phone Co. 5 ton line truck out of the ditch it slid into and I mean into ( took 2 tries ) Had Fords and Dodges all my life but this rig made a Chevy Man out of this country boy

The tundra's are nice one of my friends just got a brand new one, but I would not trade my 01 dodge for one and I tow all the time. 9000lbs of boat and it goes pretty good with out being all souped up. the cummings motors are built to last! but it all boils down to what you want. Good Luck! Dances
