Fly line help
      #288676 - 05/09/07 05:03 PM

I had a courtland change-tip fly line on a reel that I recently lost or allowed to get stolen. At any rate, I dont know where it is, been missing for 2 months. I had a courtland change-tip fly line on it. When the reel went missing, it had the floating tip on it. I still have the other tips. I was wondering if anyone has ever made their own changeable tip fly line, and how the went about doing it. I have a new fly line and the tips, just need to see if it is possible to convert it to one changeable tip system. Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks!

Jake

Not hard to do at all. Pre-premade tip systems many of us used a (two line sizes over)regular DT line cut in half and looped at the 'fat end.'

Fred, I went back and read your post. Makes a lot more sense. Read it first after I had just woken up - must have been out of it. Went and got a line tip system and I am all set, ready to roll with my changeable tips. Thanks.

No sweat; give the 'state of the art,' the 'tip systems' on the market now are a hell of a lot better. My 'suggestion' would be to look at the Airflow "Scandi" lines and put a 'tip' on these. Been using them for some time and found them to be 'the cat's meow.'
