Wyld Edge Berzerker , Sculpin pattern . I've caught so many fish with this lure , it works on rainbows, cutts, browns, and brookies, and even steelhead . I've fished it in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and northern California and never been dissapointed . I have customers all over the map that love this pattern . Check it out . www.wyldedge.com

Since I make my own flies and lures I`m somewhat predgudiced
I long for the good old Devon Minnow Now I use a substitute consisting of a tube fly minnow on brass tube with a spin and glow running on beads ahead of the fly. These work well cast from a running line of powerpro with a short 15ft head of deepwater express

I have caught more trout on Panther Martins and Rooster tails than anything else. However it is what I have confidense in and fish the most. I like green colors and silver best with an occasional black when the water is very clear or shallow. If I was to start a new spot I would cast a silver spinner in size 1 and then switch to a green, if that failed I would go darker. I find size and presentation more important than which spinner I use most times.

You guys are missing a good bet. Best bait is free after you catch your first trout. Just pop out one of his eyes and put it on a small worm hookbeau

Those are trout shaped lures, not trout lures. They are used for large predators like bass and pike.

Have you ever seen one? The ACPlugs I've seen were 12" long. They were invented for fishing the Florida Strain Bucketmouths in So-Cal who binge on stocker rainbows in the winter on lakes like Casitas and the L.A and San Diego lakes. Their price tag is pretty high, and their use as a trout lure would be extremely limited, as there are few lakes in the PNW that hold 15+ pound trout. They would be a great "one fish a season, but he was HUGE" lure however...

I wouldn't know, I don't typically use 5 inch lures for hatchery trout. I believe wild trout should be strictly C&R, and even though it's not the law here, it's my law.

I fly fish for trout, and release 'em all (except for a few dozen hatchery fish a year that I use for sturgeon bait).

The AC plugs work well for bows browns & Macks. I have 1 that was given to me and have caught a few Macks and Bows on it in Tahoe. They are available in smaller sizes like 7". Spendy little devils. To me best use would be lakes where you find large predator trout like Flaming Gorge or Tahoe and Pend Orrille in Northern Idaho. Not your typical planter trout lure at all.
