Tossed some redworms around last evening and caught about 20 of these bad boys. Hard fighters on light tackle and good eats! First pic is a Bluegill, 2nd a Redear. Almost made the 10" mark.

Those are pigs for panfish! They are a blast on the fly-rod too. Congrats!

Those are some real nice fish and will be great eating. Hope that my old honey hole fills with water and the bluegill fishery returns...I used to get easy stringers of 9-11 inch gills on ultrlite gear using live crickets for bait.

We were using redworms fished below bobbers, kind of like bass fishing, using the trolling motor and moving down the bank, every once in a while we'd find a sweet spot that had several of these larger fish. They do fight hard on light tackle!
They haven't made the frying pan yet, but probably will this week, should be tasty.
