wawawai-snake river bass....
      #291970 - 06/11/07 11:29 AM

Three of us fished yesterday from 5 til dark around wawawai and up to granite point - best bass fishing i've had - should have counted but guessing 75-100 fish each, hit pretty much any color grub on every cast and at dusk throwing topwater had some great 'explosions' out of the water ....fishingmom

That area has some perch and crappie also. Did you catch any?

WOW, 81 degrees huh? C.J.Strike was 75 degrees surface temp tonight with fires burning on bith sides of the lake.

I did help the fire fighting effort by trimming up my pump and spraying out a burning bush near where I wanted to anchor...

I caught several bass but only one perch and no crappie last Saturday a.m. between Nisqually John and Wawaii. Only fished for about 4 hours. I Have caught perch and crappie in that area before. When I was in high school I used to skip class in the spring time and head that way with a rod and some worms in my MGB. The memories of sunny spring days with the top down and feeling like a fugitive from the law...

What's the best way to fish that area of the snake for Bass? I'd like to put the kids on some fish maybe next weekend in that area. Thanks...

1/4 - 1/8 oz. round head jig with curly tail grub. Greens, Browns and salt/pepper. Bounce them just off the bottom.

3-4" curly tails are perfect - if you go along fairly close to shore and cast at shore then drag them back - the little rocky slopes are great spots as well as the walls, you do hang up and lose gear - it will also get crowded as the day goes on, going early is good plus you get a parking spot we have been going mostly across from wawawai, down toward the dam are nice areas too - you can fish anywhere....good luck, tell us how you do...fishingmom

Ok I'm going to give it a try. I went and got a Washington Out of State license just so I can try that area. I'll certainly post the results. I just put a new electric trolling motor on the boat so hopefully I'll be able to get out this weekend and give it a try. Maybe I'll be able to do something with those little curly tails that have been sitting in the tackle box for a while. Thanks again !!!

Another place to try is up by and above Asotin. You don't need the Washington license there eighter. same thing keep the boat out a ways from shore and cast jigs or spinners we have done really good there. GRD you may also want to sign up at the green belt ramp for squaw fish if you are going to go fish we usually catch a few when bass fishing and they are $4 a piece just a thaught. LIL

gitrdone, did you go?? we bass fished upriver from asotin yesterday and did ok, tried a couple 'holes' we thought for sturgeon but nothing, the best spot with good sized bass was down the stretch by clemans road, up near where the power lines cross the river was great on the WA side! ...fishingmom
