Charity rod new
      #292589 - 06/18/07 09:34 AM

I was asked to build a rod to be auctioned off for a local charity. We decided on a Rainshadow XST1025, and wrapped withthe colors of charity, purple and silver. I was pretty happy how it came out, but even more happy to watch the bidders run up the price to over $600.
The new owner is going to bring it back to me next week so I can add his name it and I'll add more pics then, but here is the butt guide.
The only downside of this was that I got a lot of requests to build more rods, I love doing it for a hobby, but not sure I want to start doing it for money, then it starts t obecome more like work.

Nice wrap. Yella colored rod? The winner wasn't Brewer was it?

"I love doing it for a hobby, but not sure I want to start doing it for money, then it starts to become more like work. "

Sounds very familiar, especially if I take on an ABU that I have no parts for.

The color is a little off, must be the flash. Silver trim band, purple wrap with metallic purple inlay over a black guide. I was kind of sceptical at first, but really liked it when it was done.

You did a great job on the rod. I can identify with your concern re: a hobby becoming too much like work. That happened to me several years ago with stained glass - realized how much quality time with the kids I was losing, and stopped doing glass for several years. Keep up the good "hobby."

Good looking wrap, i did one rod where i wraped the inlays over the foot of the guide, i won't do it again, to hard to get them straight and really tight so they don't pull out!
