Cliff those experiences would be the result of Thomas consuming what we call shrooms.
The ones to worry about are the ones that won't have any major effects other than stomach discomforts and sweats for a day or so after consumption then his internal organs start melting. Hmmm it would be interesting though to introduce him to the edible Inky Cap.....edible but has the same chemical used to cure people of drinking. Puking Thomas!
