My daughter and I dropped the DRs at 6:30 and quit at 12:30. Went 3/5, netted 3 nice Chinooks 10-15, they were ocean fish not Blackmouth. I know that cause ALL THREE HAD AN ADIPOSE FIN! Great, first summer season since 1994 and it turns out CNR. I saw several other boats doing the same. I'll try it again on Friday. The fish checker said the mark rate is only 50%, so that 7000 quota may last awhile. SW corner on the out tide, 75-95 on the DR, 90-120 feet of water. Green hot spot, glo green spatterback squid. Fished eastside and skagit head also but the fish seemed to be stacked up at the SW corner. Lot of marks and bait.

My friend Karl and I got a 6 pd Blackmouth and a 12 pd marked ocean fish on Friday. Monsoon, over 100 boats early and about 20 on the whole bar by noon. Slow overall. Stuck it out until 2 and the two fish we got were both around noon at the SW corner. Lots of doggies but they slowed down when I quit using scent and herring strips. I think they key on the smell, dont use any and get less of 'em.

Cliff just a reminder. The ones without adipose fins you can keep this time. Don't want Thomas to get confused after the Lake Ballinger expedition.

We got one shaker and bunch of dogfish. I thought I had a nice one on at one point. I couldn't get it to budge from off the bottom. Finally get it up and I foul-hooked a big dogfish right in the dorsal fin. ARRRGH! Couldn't turn its head - it sure had me fooled.
On our way back in for the day, went and grabbed the pots and managed 3 legal dungies with 4 pots out, so I guess it wasn't a total . Man there were a lot of boats out there!

After fighting with the gear and getting things set up after not being out in the boat for a while, we hit the bar this morning and managed to pull in a decent Chinook and a dinner size Coho. Pretty good day for us (at least out on the water.)

Here is a pic of the Chinook. Not huge, but should be good eats.
