Hood Canal from shore
      #295668 - 07/22/07 07:06 PM

This will be my second time going out fishing for silvers, first time was Dungeness River run and it was fun, combat, but a good time. Anyways, am wondering if there are any spots from shore to fish the Hood Canal, maybe under the bridge area? I do not know my way around past Sequim, so any info is helpful. Also if anyone has any tips as to when is the best time, thanx in advance!

You can fish from Salisbury County Park now. It's the boat ramp north of the bridge on the eastside. Area 9 rules. From the bridge south doesn't open til Sept 1st except south of Ayock Point which is open now and the Dabob Bay silver fishery that opens Aug 16th.

You will find chinook, hummpies and early silvers passing by there in real close. Buzz bombs, Krocodile spoons, and even large vibrax spinners will produce.

Salisbury is actually closed until August 16th as part of the Hood Canal closure area under Marine Area 9 rules to limit the number of chinook taken.

On August 16th you may fish in waters north of the bridge in area 9. Area 12 south of the bridge to Ayock Point will not be open until September 1st. Hope that helps. I did not check the revisions to the fishing regulations though, you may want to go to the WDFW website or consult your attorney before wetting a line....

If I'm reading this correctly, you may now fish north of the bridge as of today now that chinook retention has been closed in area 9. Good luck out there.
