Ok this is a little out of most of yours area but... Its only 451 mi from Winnemucca so I decided to give it a try. I'll just say it was shades of the old days. Boated 10 fish to 27lb released 3 "smaller" fish and kept 7. All by 10AM.

We were there 5 days and did well enough on the first 4. Saturday turned out to be a skunk day. We could have limited the boat 2 days but elected to release some smalller fish hoping to bigger ones. I would do the same as we ended up with a 150qt cooler full of fillets. The campground is right next to the boatramp. fish Cop was on hand most days and handing out tickets for keeping cohos and yellow eyes. Tuna are still to far off shore but getting closer. We are thinking of hitting a place farther north next year called Shelter Cove. It is supposed to have a better quality of fish.. both Salmon and bottomfish. We got very lucky in that the weather was nearly perfect with fog being precnet but with min of 1/4 mile we able to navigate on the GPS. The kids want to doing it again next year so I wasn't to big of a jerk on the water.

Bodega Bay is north of SanFransico about 60 miles. Not nearly as scenic as the Washington North Coast but only half the distance. Its where they filmed the Hitchcock movie "The Birds". On Saturday the launch was a ZOO. Line of boats was backed up well over a mile. Heard it was a 2hr wait to get in the water. One gentleman thought he would be the rush by anchoring his boat outside of the channel. Minus tide in the morning left him high and dry on the mud flat.

Dad was an angel the entire trip. It was awesome. What he left out were the humpback whales, minke whales, attack of the boat by a pod of dahl's porpoises on two different days and the absolutely glassy water. Sigh, I could live there.

SAweet! I was just there on vacation a month ago. They weren't catching much at that time. They get some huge squid down there up to 60 pounds according to the local bait shop. Our wifes wouldn't let us go out cause this wasn't a fishing vacation

Did you get a chance to eat chowder at that little shop on the west end of the bay?

I love the Chum.

I think I am being buttered up.. Wonder what she wants now?

F4S we should have a tilla there.. bring trouthead.. would love to watch him with that new moocher and a 30lber. Maybe he could keep it on for more than 3 sec. We did not see any of the squid.
