I went out this weekend with a couple friends and their boy's, aged 9and 10. We got limits both day's trolling and casting weighted flies. At first my friends thought I was crazy when I showed up with an 8wt fly rod, but soon they learned a new way to catch these silvers. Every time we would hook up on one of the trolling rods, I would cast a fly behind the hooked fish and count to 20 before starting to strip it in. Almost every time I would hook up, and if not the first cast the second for sure.
My camera went on the fritz, something about saltwater immersion, so hopefully I'll have pics tonight or tomorrow.

Next time you are out, try bucktailing them. Just cast a bucktail or other streamer out just behind the wake of the boat. Works best in low light, early am and late pm. It's a hoot when a 15 pound fish blows up on your fly just below (or skating on) the surface.

Good job on the silvers!

Thanks Mojo, i'll have to try that. We've trolled bucktails in the propwash and had quite a bit of luck, this sounds close to the same thing.
