Kenai River Lodging Question new
      #299727 - 08/29/07 07:10 PM

I'm putting together first ever trip to Alaska with my Dad next year and we want to do it right. Any recommendations on good lodging in the area of the Kenai would be greatly appreciated.

Might check out Trophy King Lodge where Denali guided this past summer. They've got a website you can view. Looks like a great place to me but like alot of other things in life...it don't come cheap. Then again, if it's a once in a lifetime venture, do it right.

Bo's Guide Service. http://www.boknowsfishing.com/ That's where Luv2fish and I went a few weeks ago. Bo has nice cabins, and is one of the best guides on the river.

His cabins will accomodate 2 to 6 guests, depending on which cabin you are in. He is located adjacent to the river. After fishing from the boat all day for Kings or Silvers, you can walk down and fish for Sockeyes (Reds). In addition, he has BBQs and a hot tub on site. Bo can also arrange for Halibut trips with Huston Morris, or in his boat (Skywalker).

I highly recommend going with Bo.

Trophy King Lodge would be a great bet if you want someplace with ocean access. They are about an hour south fo the Kenai. They definitely do a great job there, and can take you on Kenai trips as well.

If you want a more ocean oriented trip, that would be a good choice.

Bo's is good, and here are a few more that are known to be high quality.
AK fishing with Mark Glassmaker 1-800-622-1177
Early Fishing 907-262-6132
RW's Big Eddy Resort 1-800-478-6900

Also there are a number of B&B's located in the area and a few hotels if that is more what you want.

Earlyfishing.com is where I always go. Gary and Val have perfect lodging right on the Kenai River and also have excellent guides on the Kasilof, Kenai and Deep Creek.

I'm pretty sure I will be taking a bunch of my friends up there again in 2008. We always have a good time.

Tell'um Freddie sent you and maybe, just maybe you'll get a better deal.

You don't say "When" you'll be coming to Alaska. Just like in WA you can't fish for all of the fish all of the time. The Kenai is the only river up here with two runs of the primary salmon. Kings, Reds and Silvers with a couple of million Pinks during even number years. If you hit it on the shoulder of any of the runs fishing can be lousy.

Appreciate the heads-up on the runs, but I've already been planning it around next year's king runs, so somewhere in late June or July. Keep the info on accommodations coming, though, as it's all helpful. Thanks.

Late June tends to slow wayy down on the Kings so is early July. I'd stick to mid-Late July and mid June.
