45 acp+p ammo causing damage? new
      #300196 - 09/03/07 08:18 PM

I was shooting some cor bon 165 grain 45acp+p out of my dan wesson bobtail this weekend and one of the night sights fell out, just the little bead that sticks in there not the whole sight. Has anyone heard of any damage due to high voilcity loads? Its a new and well made firearm so I wouldnt think any thing could happen but just courious if anyone has had simmilar issues

I had problems with Corbon +p .45 ammo in a Ruger P97. The recoil would jar the magazine loose. Still, any decent gun should be able to handle them. I'd contact the dealer.

There is obviously a little more sharpness in the kick, but I think you hit a manufacturing mistake.

Call the dealer, explain the issue. Should have no issues getting it fixed as long as the firearm is new.

I thought about sending it in for warranty work but i think it will be quicker and easier to take it to a gunsmith who can just press the rear sight out and replace it.

When my Ruger had the problem with +p ammo, I took it back to the shop and they gave me another one. That was the day after I bought it. Never did try +p in the replacement.
2-3 weeks later the shop calls me and tells me my pistol is done and I can come pick it up. I couldn't screw them over so I told them that they replaced it.

my problem is that no one carries Dan Wessons in stock and usually is a speacial order. CZ now ownes Dan Wesson and I am not sure how they are about warrenty work. I'll just save the +p ammp for when i need to stop something or someone.
