I am looking for a good guide who knows the rogue river near Medford & Grants Pass. Anyone have any suggestions.

Several very good ones, but Dave Roberts is the best of the best (fly only to my knowledge). 541 826 7101

One thing you've got to keep in mind is the 'fly only' season will be up and running shortly. If you want to use 'gear' you'd better do the upper river 'quick.'
Steve Gotshall (think I've spelled that correctly) would be another good recommendation. 541 840-2594 I think is the correct number. There's also a fly shop in Shady Cove (don't know the fellows name) but he gets good reviews (also only guy I know that uses a huge rubber boat.

Fly only starts Sept. 1 from Gold Rey Dam to the Hatchery.
Jack Jermain owns the Fishin Hole fly shop in Shady Cove. Really good guide, and he fishes flies, bait or whatever.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help with names guys I was able to get out with Todd Puett for a day on the upper river before it went fly only. We had a blast and although we didn't get into any steelhead we had fun with the resident trout.

He fishes alot with the guys that run the Willie shop. He's got a tricked out Blue Willie drifter.

Probably have seen him on the river; but will look out for him.
Fred
Edit: note there's quite an article in the new STS on "Willie." Appears he was an interesting fellow ... to say the least.
