Hummers gone from SW ID already? new
      #301529 - 09/12/07 08:54 PM

I've been seeing hummers regularly until the past few days. It's hard to believe they've headed south already.

Anybody know when they take off for warmer locales?

Pez, usually they leave about now. I had a female Calliope on my feeders Sat and Sun. Yesterday a few black chinned hanging around.

Mangus has it dialed as to the dates, and he's amazed they are still hanging around. I leave my feeders out a week or two after I see the last one, just in case.

Still waiting to see my first of the season. Screw the little unappreciative creaps....next year I'm saving the Merlot for me and they'll get a cheap Chianti instead. I might also invest in a power sprayer to clean all the feathers, etc. from the patio walls and deck. Haven't figured out what that's all about. Maybe a cat problem....that's gotta be it! Problem solved, I'll shoot the neighbor's cat.

Chug that merlot, then shoot the cat. More fun that way...

Saw 1 yesterday. They are few and far between though. I'd say about over for the year.

My daughter just informed me that she saw 1 today when I was washing my boat.

I pulled my hummer feeders in today and put them away 'til spring.

Last week I watched the neighbor cat nuff a juvenile robin in my yard. In a flash it took the robin across the yard and over the fence. Kinda pissed me off, but I had to admit he's not a bad predator - so I probably won't thump him.

Put the feeders back up on Monday, and had hummers on 'em again today. Must be spring.
