2006 Yamaha Roadstar. 102ci (~1700cc)

Only the property damage is done. Waiting to settle the BI after he appears in court later this month. More power on the wrist and a much smoother ride. Very responsive even when riding 2up.

Nice Iso! Them are good bikes. I just bought a new Honda VFR800 last week. Lemme see if I can copy and paste a photo of it.

Here's a pic from Honda. My bike is still in the crate as I was too busy during the week to set it up. I'll have it up and running Tuesday. Yeah!!

Enjoy the new bike, VFRs have been good platforms for some time now. Put up a pic once you have it assembled.

Thanks Tony. Your right, the VFR's have been a solid bike for years. I kinda like things a little different, I really like the Honda V-4 sound, power delivery, and the fact it actually has bottom end power so you don't have to shift thru 4 gears from light to light. The ergonomics seem to fit me well.

With slip-ons and a Power Commander we've mapped them to 115-118hp, pretty good. The V-Tec motors flat out rip!

No pic yet as I haven't been able to when the rain stops. I got about 320 miles on it so far. I can't wait for some dry pavement!

I bought riding gear, Kilimanjaro by First Gear. This stuff absolutely rocks!

Dry pavement? Oh yeah, 320 miles still scuffing the tires.

We should hook up for a ride kwaj. Not sure about your riding style, but I am usually up for a short 500-600 mile ride. Really need to put a 4x2 riser on to take some pressure off my shoulders. Need a get about another 2000 miles on her before I start the performace mods. Going to run the Dragon's Breath with Roadburner pipes & Nemesis coils.

I am running a Steeple Chase and still have a pair of Steeples out in Idaho I still need to get. There is talk that 20 is going to be opening up in mid-May. That is a beautiful ride. I like Artist Point as well. There is a ride out to B.C. that I was looking at. It is just under 1000 miles. Probably could make it into an IBA ride with a couple of route tweaks.

Rode out to Pasco a few weeks ago. That was an insane ride. We hit a wall of fog coming out of Lacey. By the time we pitted in Oregon I was in stage 1 hypothermia. Next winter I am definately getting Gerbing gear.

Ride safe.

Iso, you really should consider a heated vest, grips, and seat if you are going to ride in colder weather. How long do you take to drive 500-600 miles and at what speed? Also, what is the range of your bike, or how often do you stop?

Already put on an Ultimate seat. Nice and comfy. Strange thing about riding in the cold is that I never actually get cold until I stop.

Range at the moment is about 170ish highway miles on the stock tank. About 150 commuting miles.

Stopping really depends on the ride and group. If it is just a joy ride - I'll stop when something looks interesting, need a bio-break, or fuel.

I am not a speed demon. Ideally like to run roughly 70-75 mph.

Upcoming open events:
3/31: Band Of Brothers MC Poker Run (Benefit ride for MS)
4/1: Dyno Days @ Everett Powersports (Free Dyno Runs)
4/14: GWRRA chapter C Early Spring Fun Run (Smokey Point CB)
4/14: Tulip Ride
4/14: Norwestars (ISRA) Garage Days
4/22: Lime Run (Burlington Eagles)
5/5: Run for the Son (CMA Fundraiser)
5/6: Governor's Run
5/12: Stanwood Camano Bike Blessing (Stanwood Foursquare Church)
6/16: Hawaiian Father's Day/Military Appreciation Day Run (Skagit Valley HD)
8/6-8/12: Sturgis Rally (Sturgis SD)
8/11: SONShine Run 2007 - Benefit ride for Granite Falls Boys and Girls Club
9/22: Pre-Oyster Run Party (Skagit Valley HD)
9/23: Oyster Run

And many more.

Ultimate? Is that a brand?

70-75? I'm surprised that they run that fast on those rides. You are running the interstate, or you just like to run 10-15 over? My range is a litle more than 100 more than that. With your range, I guess that's about a stop every two hours.

Ultimate Seats. The stock seat gets to be a bit painful after a few hours. The backrest really helps.

Speed of traffic, maybe a bit faster. +5-10 not in a hurry. 70-75 is the speed on the open interstate. Group ride speeds are different. Each group is a bit different. The ride out to Pasco was 430+ bikes. No we were not going 75mph either.

Jim, do you any of the Friday lunch rides at work? They are usually posted on the msftriders forum.

I have a custom seat from Rich's Custom Seats in Seattle. Mine is custom fitted to my butt, gel, and heated. I don't like back rests myself, but I'm not riding a cruiser either.

No, those lunch guys are a bunch of idiots from what I've read. That doesn't sound like fun although riding with a huge group doesn't sound good to me either...not my cup of tea.

Looked at Rich's seats, but went a different direction. Maybe next time I'll give him a try. I like the back rest especially with the damage to my L-spine. Makes for a more pleasant ride. Looking to get a 4x2 riser to bring the bars back some.

The cruiser lunch ride is out to Riverside bar & Grill in Fall City. It is a very relaxed ride. They run a 2 column stagger with sweeper. The sport bike ride is a whole different story. They run two groups: fast and really fast.

Riding in the very large group (430+) was a PGR ride that started in Lacey picking up riders in Oregon en route to Umatilla where we picked up the rest of the PGR group and rode to Pasco. In Pasco we picked up about another 200+ bikes, 4 limos, LEO escorts, and lots of cagers. It was an interesting ride. Largest PGR gathering for a mission in the Northwest.

I am looking at making a run out to Quincy, Benton City, or Pomeroy. The passes are looking better now so it should be a easy trip. Still scoping out 2 after the damage from the floods. Probably grab one of the girls this weekend and make a quick run out to Wenatchee if we can catch a break in the weather. Wife and girls are all very much fair weather riders. They are still a bit skittish after the accident in December.

Iso, A ride sounds great! I have to admit my "saddle seat" is not in shape for that many miles. I've still only got 750 miles on it. Although I got the good gear, I just got to have some good pavement to get back in distance shape.

BTW, as for your modifications to your bike, I'd advise against messing with the ignition coils, stock ignition voltage is very good. The better bet is to install a Power Commander from DynoJet. Bub's and Samson's exhaust sytems have proven very well along with a Dynojet Jet Kit. These set up's have made many many happy customers for us. Anyhow, just my thoughts.

Re: New ride new [Re: kwaj]

20 opens tomorrow at 2pm So many miles of road -- so little time to ride them all.

For the VStar 1100 the stock coils put out around 35kv producing a weak spark. The Nemisis coils put out around 45kv resulting in a much hotter spark which gives a better and more complete burn of the fuel mixture. The Dyna PC was not an option of the VStar. It is for my Roadie though.

For the Roadie I am not sure where I want to go now. I had wanted to do a whole list of stuff from intake to the exhaust. She is running great. I averaged 42mpg on a ride out to Spokane and back last weekend. Same with the Lime Run last Sunday. Just need to change out the riser to a 4x2 set to bring the bar up and back. This should take some pressure off the shoulders and wrists. Rode over to Spokane last weekend. Ended up with some harsh pain in the throttle arm.

Ran across a 1980 FLH for sale. Like the old shovelheads and even the ironheads. Saw a sweet looking 1969 FLX in good condition with a functional kick start. The FLH needs some good lovin and paint. Lots of possibilities for a "fun" bike for riding solo. Neither would be a 4 corners ride but would be great to go on some of these other rides. Not looking to go the OCC custom way or even for a Spinal Tap look. Just something a bit different. Never really cared for the HD line until a guy at work showed me his old shovelhead. His shovel has nice smooth lines with a clean uncluttered engine and a sweet rumble exhaust that would bark quite loudly. The kickstart was a bit wild. Refused to start unless no one was watching. Just another possibility.
Still waiting for the settlement check. Until then I just get to dream all I want. At least dreaming is still free.

Iso...You do any mods to your Roadstar yet?

I've got a Power Commander on the way for my bike. I'm going to install Riv-Nuts into my header pipes and have each cylinder mapped individually with our TuningLink software. I'm stoked! I need to figure out how to post the dyno graphs onto here....

Sorry for not replying sooner. It has been a very busy season on a few fronts.

Mods... 4x2 risers, Kury ISO grips, Linbar with Kury LH offset ISO pegs, VH Longshots. Plus a little eletrical work on the lights.

Coming: Chariot manifold, Forcewinder (or Baron's BAK) intake with re-jet, & new forward controls.

Got about 14,500 miles on it so far.
