Cast and Blast?
      #305364 - 10/14/07 08:26 PM

Some dumb questions...there doesn't seem be much info in the regs which could mean it is that simple.

1)The regs say 7 ducks. Is that 7 of any species/sex?

2)Are there any of the more open/common rivers that you can't shoot waterfowl from?

3)Anythig else I need to know before I wingshoot from my driftboat? I know I need nontoxic shot and need to know where my pellets will land, etc. I know there are shooting hours.

Hi Jim,

Satsop, Wynochee and Chehalis are good to go. Not sure about the Hump, but I'm pretty sure you are good to go.

I usually don't shoot if I'm near a home, or other fishermen, unless they cork me and a duck decides to fly by.

Basically you are looking at no more than 2 hen mallards, 4 scaup, 4 scoter, and then there are specific limits on pintails, canvas backs, redheads, harlequins, (and other ducks you won't likely see on the river).

My bag is usually some mergansers (sausage pile), mallards, teal and wigeon a time or two. Never limited while floating the river, but I have been close. I've picked up a few geese when I was lucky.

Thanks Andy. That little tid bit helped me to look more on the regs, and I found the more specific limit information at the bottom of the page. I thought it must be there somewhere!

Yeah, one pintail is all you can shoot. They are very rarely sitting along the river bank, but we have got them that way.
