Oh, not really a hybrid, but check out the monster hump on this brown.

And here is a nice limit including a 24" brown that weighed 7.5lbs.

Wow, you figure that out all on your own with just the length???? Amazing! What calculation did you use?

Depth of fish is about 4.5" from the ruler on the pic. Using a generous 3 times that would give us 13.5 girth. this would be an very generous girth. More reasonable # would be 11.5. 13.5" girth works out to 5.6 lbs. 11.5 works out to 4.0. I have boated a large number of 23-24 in trout this year and none of them bade 7.5 lb. on my digital scale. Most were 3.5 to 4.5 with the chunkiest football shaped one making it to 4.8. These were well fed small head fat body fish. Your brown has big head snake look to it.
the weight calculator I used was from this board. http://www.steelheader.net/Toppages/weight_calculator.htm
Thats how I figured it out all on my own. Hope thats not to "amazing" for you.

I agree that is a nice lookin bunch of fish
but that ugly brown doesn't look like it would go more than 5# anymore than a skinny 24" summer brat will weigh 5#
Nice bunch of fish no matter how you cook it.

Well, I just measured on the screen and the depth of that fish is 5". And using the 3x rule which does work out pretty well it has a 15" girth (which is about what it was, the fish had 3 huge 5" crawdads in it's stomache). Length was 24".
15x15x24/745 is about 7.2lbs. I stood on a standard scale with and without the fish and it showed to be about 7.5lbs. Either way, it doesn't matter if it was 3lbs or 20lbs. It was 24" and put up a hell of a fight on a 5wt fly rod with 4lb test.

A good way to measure weight if you have the length (this works well for steelhead, trout and brown trout) A 22in fish weighs around 2lbs give or take a pound. Then from there you add a pound per inch from there up. I caught my second river steelhead and it was 37in long. Not even knowing the girth (which was 17in) I can calculate the weight to be at 17lbs give or take a pound. I would say 4 or 5lbs is a good guess on this fish and a very nice brown at that! I caught a 28in steelhead last night that went 8lbs exactly. Good way to calculate weight.
