...I won in a raffle. Anyone know anything about what style rod I should think about building. It is a "Fenglass" blank 8"4" medium power fast action.

I'd just build it into a traditional spinning rod! Since that blank is now obsolete, i wouldn't go to fancy in case she ever gets broke! Put a seven or ten inch rear on it a size sixteen seat, a 2 inch foregrip or no foregrip at all and some VS3 guides from forecast!

I lied, it's a 7 foot blank.
Also Chris, I looked at it, played with it a little, and think it is best suited as a hot shot rod. I don't know. I did a google and most guys I read about were using them for medium salt water spinning rods in Florida and on the East coast. Maybe I'll haul it ti the tilla, and you and Karry can play with it ans see what you think.
Anyone else have any ideas? I know the older Fenglass blanks have a serious following of guys that love the way they pull little, light plugs.

Just FYI most rods are designated with model numbers by inches and powers. so SP is spin and 84 is inches and the last number 4 is power. Not all rods are the same power but because the pioner of our rod designs come from some Fenwick ideas the 4 may mean 8-17.

A lot of bass rods are 7 foot, but I would get a couple opinions about a hover rod. I know they use shorter rods and they are softer than I imagined. I did some hover fishing on the lewis last spring and landed a huge nate steelhead, while springer fishing. Look up the loomis catalog and compare the blanks.
