Middle Rogue (GP) This Weekend (Drift Boat?)
      #307607 - 10/31/07 04:08 PM

I will be fishing the middle rogue this weekend with my dad, grandpa and uncle. How long and how hard is the drift from baker park to schroeder park? Are there any bad rapids that I could get in trouble out of a drift boat? My grandpa has a drift boat but I dont have much expirence with one and I would had to get my grandpa wet It would be best for us to use the drift boat cuz then there would be less walking. Let me know if that is a good drift and how it has been fishing. Thanks for the help

That is a great drift but if ya want a all day drift go down to Whitehorse... but it is harder to land there or Lathrop
The only thing i would look out for is like a half mile or a mile upstream from the Ped. Bridge... there is a big ole boulder that is like 10 or 15 ft across the river right in the middle... I dont have any advice for it...

Any other drifts that would be good this time a year that a drift boat noob could handle? Also if not what are some good spots around Grants Pass that I could get my grandpa into? He is in pretty good shape but I dont want hime to have to do to much wading in fast water. Thanks again

Any other good spots where the salmon might be spawning? I guess night crawlers would work in other areas too. I do see the big rock on the map, it looks like you would walk the drift boat around it.

ummm... right under the 6th street bridge... then like i said a mile downstream from the Ped. Bridge and if you go down farther past Schroeder...
Right Above and Below Lathrop
Mouth of Applegate
right above Applegate and then somewhat downstream below lathrop
and even farther....

There is a hole at matson...
Spawning beds at Griffin
then the hole at robertson bridge

So many places so little time. I think we will spend most of the day below sixth street and a few holes below there, work the ped bridge area real well and end up a whitehorse or schroeder. How hard is it to get out at whitehorse?

lets just say if you miss it you will end up going to matson...
you need to have someone able to jump out and pull the boat before it goes into the bushes

Is there any reason you seem to always fish there? You must hook a lot of fish in that area

I dont think I will be fishing that low, but good luck this weekend!
