These shrooms were all growing in a space of about 200' feet along the road I live on. I've been here 7 1/2 years and we've NEVER had so many varieties and this kind of quantity!
(No, I don't know what most of them are, but I'm not eating them. Yeah, I'll get some books one of these days.)

These are the only pics that were half way identifiable. There were another half dozen varities that the picture didn't come out. Working on that!

Pretty sure the first two are yellow and orange chantrelles. I've never seen any orange before? These popped up since last night. I didn't disturb them to look at the under sides.

They were about 4' apart just a quick stroll from the house.
Now for the white mushroom, don't know what it is, but it's the most prolific.

A half dozen more orange popped up today, so I picked a couple. After seeing the underside, I'm sure.
I have chantrelles for omelets in the am!

The white mushroom is one of those that I don't deal with as there are too many that are poisonous including deadly to mess with them...except for Matsutakes.

I have no intention of eating the white ones. I know the deer are eating them, but there are some that are partially eaten with small bites like a mouse, squirrel or vole or something?

OK, I'm going to eat these tonight!

These are from my neighbor Bill, who found these "little" ones in a neighbor Mike's yard when Caveman returned the sawmill. There were a bunch more that were bigger. The two I have would equal about a pound, they're so heavy.
Bill's been shrooming/selling for 25 years, so I think they're safe. Now I know they grow in the area too!

White Matsu's AKA "pine" mushrooms. I guess the key is the grey "ashy" looking base at the stem.

I’ve found a few of those as well and have never picked them. Do they have a really spicy smell? Next time I go out I’m going to try to find and pick some of those if they are still around. Dustin

We ate a few bites raw before I made dinner with them in a sauce over rice. We're still alive! The neighbor told me what section of my property they used to grow on so as soon as the rain stops...
Very strong flavor and aroma. I like them and will now have to think up some good dishes to stick them in.

Heh... Caveman showed me the "tree" this afternoon. Found 5 more. I guess I am going to have to saute and freeze some.

"I guess I am going to have to saute and freeze some."
Really? Never tried that but would be concerned that they might be mushy when defrosted. Another reason I never tried this is because they taste so damned good that I rationalize that I should eat them now instead of later [after freezing] when they might not taste as good.

I haven't tried the saute/freeze before with these. 5 is too much shroom for one sitting though, and I'm afraid of getting a tummy ache.
These have a pretty tough texture, so I think they will hold up OK.
