I have a friend/co-worker that is looking to take his brother fishing. They just want to hopefully catch fish without worrying about all the different rules. Just want to have an enjoyable morning or afternoon. Any good spots to go?

Lake Washington. Trout, Bass, all kinds of panfish. Lots of bank access in several places. Also the ship canal and Lake Union.

Not too familiar with Pierce county lakes, Thurston has plenty of year-round lakes that are stocked decent. Is that too far of a drive?

Ive never dock fished there. But im sure worms off the bottom would produce. I was out there today with the underwater camera, saw a few HUGE schools of perch. Also caught a dark Kokenee. By the way.. Welcome to the board!

I was at spanaway yesterday and nothing, saw a few jump, but there were about 15-20 people fishing and no one was getting anything. as for american lake i tried the day before off dock, but with a bobber. Guess Ill try the slip weight and a work or some powerbait/ power eggs maybe?

I wouldnt eat anything that came out of a lake. They tend to taste muddy. Atleast I think so.

I fished it yesterday with a barrel weight nightcrawler and bobber and landed a 1lb Rainbow back behind the lodges on Ft.Lewis... Not sure who has access but it was alright...
Today I dock fished Spanaway lake to no avail. A local came and talked to me and my buddies and said that trout are normally hot year round. FYI, access is going to be closed off due to Christmas lights (drive thru park thing). Dont know if it will be open during the day and close in the evening or not...

They ar but most are stocked fish not native so the meat is pretty mushy... I filleted one a couple that were given to me and of the 3 1 was bright pink the others were not so good... Personal preference..

Let me rephrase that. I would not eat anything that came out of a lake that had any access to it other than hiking in. A long ways. High mountain trout are awesome to eat. Especially fried on a cast iron skillet covered in batter. Those fish dont see the pollutants and power bait. Or the hatchery feed for that matter.

Corky, I tend to agree with you. In my youth I would eat 'em if they were pink, now I am a little more selective.
