Setup for Cutts and Silvers new
      #30896 - 01/18/00 07:38 PM

Would like to set up a 9' 6wt for cutts & silvers in the sound. Thinking about a shooting head system though I've never used one before. Anybody have any pros, cons and/or recommendations?

Shooting heads give lots of distance for your casts, but leave little line control once the cast is made. The line is a good choice for fishing sinking flies without concern for intial presentation. The shooting heads will really get the fly down to your desired depths.

Most of your cutthroat fishing will be done on a sinking line, so this is a good choice of setups. The only other option would be a weight forward full sinker. Which would give a little better line control but sacrafice a small amount of distance.

The shooting head set up could be used for seabass or even rock fish also
