Go for the fishcat. You'll be much happier with it. I haven't owned an outcast floattube, but I've owned 3 different floattubes and several pontoon boats and a couple catarafts. I'd say for just about any medium river and lake boat I'd go with a pontoon style boat. You'll sit higher, and for flyfishing you'll have a bit more leverage. Hey sparkey, what do you mean Outcasts "economy model and don't handle abuse well"??? Hell, all of the Outcasts are that way. Sheesh. But to tell you the truth sparkey, I've owned a REALLY old fishcat, and I handled the Oxbow on high volume with it with no sweat. It's not the boat, it's the oarsman. But, a crappy boat will KILL a novice oarsman in a second. I guess I have the advantage of starting my boating career running class 5's in Kayaks (when I was a bit lighter then I am now) and running serious class 4's + in my cats.
Oh well, you youngins can handle anything, well, almost.
