As a few of you know My dad passed way a few weeks ago so I took the dog and went by my self. well it was a good day we set out a few deeks and kicked it on the ground with a box of raspberry filled doughnuts and the shot gun. I chatted with dad and God, and the dog. Did me pretty good to just kick it alone, There were literally hundreds of these nice fatty ducks around. They where working good with out any calling is what amazed me is I didn’t ever where any real concealment. my coat blue jeans and the dog. But hey its was good. Looking for a few new hunting buddies for the week days if you have some time and would like to go with me or wouldn’t mind one joining ya my door is always open. Shoot me a call or pm Jim W

The hen merganser in your pic reminds me of one of my Dad's stories. Our family has a membership that dates back to around 1929 in the South Bay Duck Hunting Club in Grays Harbor. Over the years and more recently all kinds of people have acquired membership and have been amusing to us old timers. One day dad and partners got back to the clubs boat launch the same time as a fairly new member and partners. They came over to see what the old man had shot for the day....as I recall it was several limits of Green wing Teal. Dad then asked them how they did and the club member said that they had limited on Red Heads. The Old Man is probably thinking WTF as Red Heads were more than a rarity in that bay....they just never migrate thru there. He walks over to the guys boat to take a look and there's 3 limits of hen mergansers. He simply remarked how's them would be good eating and walked away chuckling to himself. Those guys didn't have a clue as to what they had shot....they seriously believed that they had 15 Red Heads for the day.

Jim I am going to add a dozen Blue Bill and some Goldeneye dekes to my set up as there are quite a few of those that use the Dosewallips. Both are good eating birds in my experience. Do you have any of those in your set up?

Way to go Jim! Like Gooose, I did the same thing when my mom passed away. Dads ashes will be spread at SilverWings so he will hunt with me and my boys the rest of our lives.

This last storm finally brought migrants into my area...I am checking them out on the the Duck and Dose flats every day after work....a few more flocks show up and I will let all of you know it's game time! This morning would have been a cool hunt even with the tide out as the Dose flats were completely fogged in....I always enjoyed blasting boids coming in through the fog.
