I have a completely stock F250 with the V-10. I know that there are plenty of "chip" choices for the diesel drivers, but for those of us that still have spark plugs under the hood, any options? Basically what I am looking for is improved mileage and a bit more throttle response.

I'd go check it out at the Ford Truck Enthusiasts site. There is a separate forum dedicated to the V-10.

I been to several different sites including Banks, but I have not spoke with anybody that has a lot of miles on their gas powered truck running a chip. I plan on keeping this one for a few years and don't want the motor to crap out on me because of a chip. On the other hand, it is getting really old never being able to pass a gas station. Most of the good folks on this board have trucks, just hopeing for some first hand knowledge of longevity.

You'll find people who love their trucks at FTE. For all gas motors I've had, a K&N and better exhaust have helped a bunch. I'd also do a Zoodad mod to the intake. If you can get a shop to put an aftermarket catylitic converter(s) on when they do the exhaust mod that's very helpful, too. Other things like running higher tire pressure also helps.
Hypertech is the acknowledged leader in the chip game and have been at it longer than almost anyone.
Still, I'd go visit FTE and ask. I support that site because the SuperDuty, and Diesel Forums including 6.0 Forums are absolutely awesome.

Nook73, what kind of milege are you getting. I have a 2001 F250 with about 50,000 miles on it now. I consistantly get 11.1 to the gallon, no matter if I am around town or on the freeway. Camper on or not, it is always at 11. I'm also looking at some up-grades. Dual exhaust, after market catalyst and maybe a chip, just haven't yet done the research.. Jim, do you have a link to any of those sites...

I have just over 57K and usually get between 10.5 and 11.5 mpg. using 87 octane. Even with a load of firewood, dirtbikes, towing a boat, it is usually between 10-11. I recently made a trip over to Spokane pulling my horse trailer. This thing weighs about 10K lbs. loaded. I pulled a eyeball popping 7.8 mpg on that trip. Unhooked the trailer and it was back to the 10-11. This is my motivation for seeking a solution. Jim, thanks for the links.

I have a '03 F-250, V-10. I looked into the "chips", etc and did not find it worth it. I have 70K on my truck and drive primarily highway, unloaded I get 13.5 to 14.5 always. If I am towing, I have a 20' camper with drift boat behind and get just under 10. The only thing I have done to the truck is I added the K&N cold air intake with filter. I do think I need to do the exhaust since I did the intake, maybe next year..............
