Rivers dropped back into PERFECT fishing condition(s). Water's a light 'Jade Green' and 5-6 foot of visability. Still a 'pick and choose' for fly fishing, but any other 'gear' would be perfect.

Sounds good Fred.
I managed to fish Saturday on a couple small streams near Coquille, nothing to report in regards to big numbers and/or bright fish, but it was fun to practice casting under the brush Lots of on the redds tho. It was a pleasure to watch them do nature's calling from the high bank.
Lots of blowdowns on some of the back roads, so take the chainsaw

Zero to show for the afternoon on Monday, but did hook two yesterday, one to the beach ... one a 'long range release.' Hell of it was .... both fish, like the first ... were on flies sent to me by guys in the UK.

No joy yesterday as I fished 'up river' and the bulk of the fish are still hanging in the bottom 5'ish miles of river. Neighbors hooked 7, boated 5, another neighbor had a beautiful fresh King and a 6-7 # winter run.
Appears many of the fish are holding in the piling hole area above where the northfork flows into the main river.
I had casting practice up at 'icebox.'

Good "Plan A" Greg. Rained about a half inch last night but had zero effect on the river. Fished the very bottom end of 'Icebox' and 'Social Security' this afternoon. With the low water you can access, and drive darned near 1/3'rd mile down from the usual drive in spot.
Very bottom end of icebox for fly water!!!!! WONDERFUL and 2 winters were 'players.' WOOOORAAAAA!

Right above Social Security is what's called the 'Market Hole.' There's a 'general store' on the main road (N. Bank) that it was named after. And it's still THE best part of the bar to fish (the bar is now one veeerrrrry long one at low water running from MH all the way down to Pump House at lower water).
One place, an old fav. that's just plane GONE, is piling hole. Just a long, wide spot in the river all the way down to the mouth of the North Fork.
Fred
Edit: Sorry Greg, didn't answer your question: "Chetco Outdoor store" is not ringing a bell. But I'm sure I've been in it. Most 'out door stores' have long been replaced (run out if you will) by Fred Meyer.

Well skip this. Rained like a 'cow peeing on a flat rock' for the past 18 hours, rivers up, and wind is at a steady 40'ish mph .... with predicted gusts to 60.
And at least one more storm aimed at the SW coast. Doubt I'll be doing much for the better part of the next week.

Thanks Greg, have to go 'into town' this afternoon. Think I know just about where it is from your discription. Rivers dropping quickly and the 'plunkers' are already doing well up at SS bar. River is still a grey-clay colour but is moving to green now. River's dropped at least 3 feet over night and continues to fall (sun yesterday/today). Fred

http://waterdata.usgs.gov/or/nwis/uv?14400000 Anything under 4K indicates the river will be fishing very well. Actually in Ashland at the moment (Christmas was up in Portland); will be heading back to Brookings in a couple of days.
