you should be hitting it in decent shape. Getting green now, but, brownish still below Shady Cove, as of this morning. I fished it Sun/Mon in mediochre conditions. Got fish both days. Found some Summers and a handful of deceent trout to boot! 150+miles upstream from the Ocean....and it's Big water.

From the boat deadline to Shady Cove. Eggs and plugs. Plugs were quite effective. If it stays cold, you'll be looking good. Water temp is down so keep your presentations slow also. Have fun!

Water is now in very good shape ... save for a lack of fish. Over 50% of the run is now being counted inside the hatchery.
Winter runs won't really show up in any numbers for at least another 30 days.

In the deeper runs, yes. Fish are going to be holding right on the bottom.
For fish count info: 1800-472-2434. This will be far more current than the web site info.

Just visiting Grimm. My Uncle and Cousin been pounding that upper section for 25+ years. I've enjoyed it many a time over the years. I've mostly fished it for Springers as that's when we tend to visit. Have had fun with Summers too. I remember as a kid fishing a lot for half-pounders on trout rods....Good memories.

Greg I think you should have stayed closer to home today from what I hear they are picking up winter fish in the middle right now. Lathrup down...big ole winter fish too!!! Go plunk @ Finley! Remeber with the cold water you want a SLOW presentation!

See that 'flat water' right below the 'new bridge hole?' Interesting place to fish, but one of the major bits of holding water.

On the road that goes up to the hatchery... we pulled into the first parking lot... and I went directly under that bridge and fished under for a couple minutes and then pounded that area right below for a good 15 minutes with nothing

Finley or Griffin which ever is the one you can walk to...I though I remebered that you live within walking distance of one of them. Plunk a plug or a spin n glo with bait...nightcrawlers work too!
When plunking you want to be in a traveling lane...anywhere you have seen your target species jumping/rolling. Insides of river bends...slow water side of a current seam...if you can handle the cold head down there and take a chair & some of your tying stuff...it definitley a sit & wait game...got put in your hours to get fish.
