Squidlies new
      #315153 - 01/01/08 07:41 PM

Hello All:

I've read on many boards that the squid fishing is not that great this year. These reports are coming from the East and South Sound. Some say it is due to the low hearing populations.

I am happy to report squid fishing is just fine here in the Kitsap region. Just today I was approached in my truck by someone who squid fishes in this area. He was saying it is a typical year for him. That translates into pretty good squid fishing! This is a common statement I've been getting this year. In fact, I can not recall a year when so many people have approached me in parking lots to talk squid fishing and Squid Jigs

We have had a lot of rain this year. I believe water clariety is one of the biggest factors influencing your catch. As for hearing, I do not believe this is a major part of the squid's diet. The squid are there right now. People are just not catching the squid. Of course, you need to use the right Squid Jig Another reason I believe the squid fishing is good are the orders coming into the shop. From my experience, people who squid fish Do Not report when the squid fishing is good!

Now is the time to be squid fishing. It would be worth the trip.

Yeah, I need to get out and do some squidding this year. I keep talking about it, but not getting it done.

I made two trips to the Seattle waterfront in December. Lousy. I caught 8 squid (not pounds) the first trip, and 1 squid the second trip. On an average year, I can limit out pretty easily. This rain is not helping the Elliott Bay squidding...
