Alaska Trip Plan
      #317722 - 01/18/08 04:15 PM

My son and I are trying to plan a trip to Alaska this year. We would like to fish for Kings and Halibut as well. I have been told a trip to Soldata and Homer would get it done. After now have an info overload from searching the net, I thought I woulf ask for some help.

Any suggestions you guys could give us would be greatly appreciated. I thought we would visit folks at the Sportsman's show in Puyallup next weekend. Any personal experience with one of the exibitors would also be appreciated.

Thanks so much!!!

Have you thought about Sitka? I went with http://www.AnglingUnlimited.com last summer and had a very fun and successful trip.

I'm again going with www.earlyfishing.com. They take real good care of my group and we have been going with them for several years now!

We do Halibut and Kings with them. Tell Val you talked with Freddie.

You are welcome to go with us this coming summer as we have a little room left. I get a good discount on the trip.

This has not become official yet. Even though a reduction in limits is a virtual guarantee for this season, the exact limits are still unknown. It's IPHC recommendation that instead of us getting our full 1.4 million lbs. of GHL (General Harvest Limits) that we'll be decreased to 930,000 lbs. So for now everything depends on what the final decision coming from the Secretary of Commerce says and public testimony on this doesn't even close until 1/31. There are other proposals being discussed including a 6 fish per year limit while keeping the 2 per day, 1 under 32" rule we had last year. So yes, change is inevitable but I'll wait for more info before posting limit numbers.

I would like to see them keep it the same as last year
that seem to be working for every one.
