Riffe Lake new
      #254504 - 07/26/06 05:23 PM

First trip to Riffe Lake. Used the ramp at the park and found it to be a steep but decent ramp. Launching manners are suspect here. Maybe it just was the big guy in the bright yellow pick-up. He cut in front of a boat and got his truck and backed his trailer in to the water and left it for at least 20 minutes while he went to his camp site and came back. Meanwhile the guy he cut in front of and another guy who wanted to launch had to wait. Then I had to wait while he pulled up right in front of the launch to load his rig and blocked the ramp. I protested that there was a place of prep a rig for travel but got yelled at and threatened. It took a lot of composure to walk away. He then pulled by me on the way out and told me to do something to myself. Talk about not having a clue about boat ramp manners. It took a lot of the fun out the trip, although I loved Riffe Lake and actually saw a cougar on the bank.

Some people are just jack-asses, not much you can do about it. Did you catch any fish?

how I love those that feel the launch is their very own prep spot. I wonder about those people, do they know what they’re doing and don’t care, or (my guess) they just really don’t have a clue. I guess in both cases they’re clueless. I had a guy this year on Coeur d’Alene pull his brand new F-350 w/ and over size yacht, take up both launches, truck angled across both driveways (this guy must be trying to compensate) and proceed to work on the boat, and I’m not talking prepping the thing, he broke out the tools and went to work on it. We asked him to move and he looked at us like we crazy.

We said alright, we’ll just squeeze in. I think he took us seriously when we were about an inch from his prized possession. Finally decided that we weren’t kidding around and pulled out of there. Unbelievable.

To bad some people live in a world populated only by themselves.

Interesting story. While attempting to launch my boat at Point Defiance a while back I had just such a person cut in front of me. He had a rather small pick up but a very big boat. I nicely reminded him I was next. He basically acted like the person you describe did. I didn't pursue it. Just waited. And then the heavens opened up and provided me (and many other people there at the time) a huge laugh. This guy put his boat in the water minus his plug but didn't know it at the time. He moored it (to close to launch another boat I might add). He drove up the hill to park and then took a fairly long time to come back.

By that time his boat had noticeably settled in the water. He got in tried to find his plug but couldn't. You guessed it. No one helped him, we all just looked and laughed. Sometimes God it good!

Yep, if you have a boat it will happen sooner or later.
I was backing down and had a guy try it. He miss judge his turn
and I just backed past him. I had my boat loaded and he came down and got right in my face with smoker/java breath. My son was right next to me so I had my friend take him to the front of the truck. He backed down when he thought of the can of worms he was opening. He did use some choice words as he walked away. As I was putting my gear in the truck we watched him try to load his boat. We sat there for 30min laughing drinking a beer that a guy waiting for the ramp gave us. He put the trailer too deep with a 2 mph current and no guides.
