I went to Martha last Thursday and Friday hoping to avoid the crowds but was amazed that so many people had the same idea. The launch was jammed and I had to park a half mile away after putting my boat in the water.

I C&R'd my limit both days but all were fresh plants in the 8-10 inch size. As usual, I trolled a black bugger really slow and sometimes tipped it with worm but I don't think it mattered. I fooled around with several leach patterns and they all drew strikes, especially if they had any sparkle to them. The dock fishermen were hauling in fish right and left on the usual power bait or eggs or worms or any combination thereof.

The trout were hitting so softly that to hook up I had to loosen my drag almost all the way to off, otherwise they would hit it without hooking up. This proved to be my undoing on the only possible triploid of the day when the fish took my fly and buried my rod. By the time I got my rod out of the holder and cranked down my drag he had already made two great jumps and shook the hook. Darn! Always when I least expect it!

I'll head back there after the planters are "cleaned up" and hope that as in years past, the bigger fish are still hanging around.
