I have not fished this lake very often but from my little experience with this lake, it is very easy to see that this lake could very well be the most productive, best fishing lake in W. Washington.
BUT...there is a kill fishery on this lake for all but two months of the season. Who would be for year-round selective fishery, limited kill on this lake??It is time to send in your submissions to the WDFW and I believe that this a proposal that they should seriously consider. The flyclubs worked very hard to get this regulation adopted for Lone Lake and because of this Lone Lake has quickly become a destination lake for W. Wa. trout fanatics.

I fished Anderson for the opener and there were a lot of kids fishing it with bait and having a great time. I am not in favor of a complete c&r on this lake. It provides good action for all the anglers and not just a few. Special you should fish Gibbs for C&R on the trout they planted it with triploids and it if fairly close to Anderson. With no boat launch it makes a great float tube lake.
Anderson and Gibbs are South of Port Towsend East of Discovery bay.

I gotta agree with Marty oin this one-- not a good lake for c&r! There are plenty of other lakes in the are that are catch and release only. Anderson is primarly a planted lake and you would have alot angry fishermen and women if it was c&r only. There seems to be very limited holdovers caught out of this lake wich seems to me that the birds eat alot of fish! Sorry Special.

I look at it in a differnt way. There are many lakes in the area the can support the fishery that Anderson currently presents. Any lake can produce good opening day fishing for the kids. I am all for that!!!But, take the few lakes the have the productive ability that Anderson has and makes those selective fisheries. Then everyone would benefit.

Special you might want to investigate some of the other lakes here on the Peninsula that have excellent productivity for anglers who are willing to locate them. Anderson is one of the few that is large enough to support a heavy fishing pressure for the local area. (boat ramp, parking, facilities, etc.) People eat fish and some only fish trout one day a year. Personal choices in fishing styles differ across the spectrum, you choose to view fishing management for your own personal gain instead of the masses.
I do agree the fish do grow very well in this lake but they do in some of other local smaller unknown lakes.
Opening day they usually experience 250 boats with 2-5 people aboard in Anderson. I saw one person fly fishing during the opener. The majority of fishermen that fish this lake in the early season are not looking for a c&r experience. I know of several small lakes that go virtually unfished even on the opener.
Fishing is for everybody...Do you think a mandatory rule for no fly fishing is a good idea?..probably not...try to look at something from both sides. That one fly fishermen would be mad...I guarantee it.

I am not looking at as just a flyfishing only, total catch and release lake. I think like many other lakes this lake would thrive under Selective Fishery regulations and a 2 or 1 fish limit.I dont want to limit anyone's oppurtunity to fish, in fact I do nto agree with that mentality. But it just always seems that unless a lake allows the standard five fish limit everyone who wants to kill a fish stays away. Well Marty, I do hope that you do not take offense to my beliefs. Atleast, as the old cliche goes, we can agree to disagree.

Disagreement is a part of life and I am open to all opinions if they are also willing to listen to mine. Currently the regulations make CnR illegal on bait caught fish. Most kids fishing with a bobber or powerbait will not be fishing selectively. Kids love action even if they are small trout, but you should see them smile with a big one.
I am all for a quality selective fishery, I just don't think Anderson is the lake for it.
