Drifted from Baker to just be roberston bridge today. I hope others didn't catch anything as we were skunked (just joking)! Everyone we talked to had not caught anything as well. Im just learning how to fish from a boat, I do most all of my fishing on small coastal rivers from the bank. You just fish slightly different from a boat and you have to look at and approach the water a little different. My grandpa fished the river a lot back in the day and would us plugs a lot so we did a good bit of that. I did catch one 14in native trout and I had one good hit that was a fish but I didn't get a hook into him. The plus is that I caught two steelhead in cold low and clear conditions on the applegate on friday. I will be back there tomorrow were I know I can catch some fish Hope everyone had better luck than us.

It was a little tough on the Rogue today. We managed to scratch out a couple. Dang it was a beautiful day on the river today.

Sounds like things are good down there, Fred. Just needs to warm a bit. Would you recommend fishing the middle, upper river, or lower river over the next month or two? Thanks.

Right now for winter runs, the very top end. For a shot at spring kings/early summer runs, the very bottom end of the river.
Zip going on 'mid-river' at this point.

They seem to be moving up slower this year (maybe lack of rain). When we fished the applegate (end of March) we only hooked two brigher fish, the rest were nice and colored up. This time last year we only hooked bright fish on the applegate.

Most of Jan. and Feb. water temps were in the high 30's. I believe that slowed the migration some. But who knows, I'll be after em again this weekend.

KS, you forgot, the question was 'in a month or two.' That said, thanks for the tip! Fred

Appears the fish are still holding down stream from me here in Rogue River ...... think I'll take a drive this morning and see what's to see. Lots of very good fly water below Whitehorse. :>)

Think I need to 'edit' the Whitehorse info ...... Several guys have launched (motor boats) here in Rogue river and headed down stream towards Sav. Rapids dam (4-5 miles down stream?)
Now as they get get below the dam ... the fish have to come to them. Think I'll save the gas money and just walk out the front door of the MH and get with the program.
