I'm starting to plan a trip to Alaska for late July or early August in 2009. A couple of the days are going to dedicated to whacking fish in Seward AK. I could use some info on charters, lodging and getting the catch shipped home. Who are better at this stuff than the others, are they all great? Do I need to avoid certain ones? As far as lodging I need to know where is a decent place to stay but not going to cost an arm and a leg, I need them for fishing =). Any info that people can give me would be very much appreciated.

Crackerjack charters, Saltwater Safari charters or Aurora charters will all give you a good day. You can also book thru the fish house in town. They are the booking agent for most of the charters in town, tell them what you want and they can arrange it for you. Just make sure and tell them you don't want a "party boat" charter.
There is nothing cheap about lodging in Seward in the summer. Even rat holes are charging 100-150 a night. If you can, rent a RV and stay in that. The camp ground is right on the beach and you can walk to and from downtown in about 2 minutes from there.

Ken Carpenter works out of the fish house. He is a good one to request. He works hard for his people. I send all my people that want to fish Seward to him and no conplaints at all. Just good feed back.
