Yups and they could even set up an online method for inseason weekly reporting of salmon and steelhead catch from watersheds like Grays Harbor.

Only thing about the online crab reporting system is, they don't ask if you even WENT crabbing...The CRC does!!!
That info must make a difference in calculating effort.

If calculating effort is important. In this case, that's not what it's desigend to do. They just need to know if there is enough allocation remaining to open up the winter season for each area.
The creel surveys have pretty much already addressed the effort questions and as you might expect, it's not very good.

This is the error message I received today after looking at my catch card to submit electronically, "Our records do not indicate that you have purchased a Puget Sound crab endorsement. If you believe this is an error, please call 360-902-2464. Remember, you do not need a crab CRC to fish for crab in coastal waters, and you do not need to report coastal catch.". I called the number at 4:15PM and no one answered. Ridiculous.

I've never punched a crab. I've split 'em with an ax blade and smashed their crab faces into the top of a log, but never tried punching them with a card... I'll give it a try
