Looking for a new ultralight rod. I looked at the Loomis and St Croix today. Loomis twice the price. Also the Loomos is ver stiff at the tip. Anyone have any of these rods. Just not sure if the extra $$$ of the loomis is worth it to catch a bunch of 2# stocked trout in the area steams. What do you all think?

Thanks guys. Your kind going with what I thought. Iloike my G Looomis that I use for salmon fishing but for stream fishing was kind of hesitant to spend the $$$.

Ended up pickig up a Falcon 5' UL and a shamano Sahara 750.

I picked up a little Quantum 5 1/2 foot for about $39 at outdoor emporium and use a Okuma Avenger 15 reels works fine and packs well. I also have a 6 1/2' bass pro shop with a Shimano Stradic 2000 reel for bigger trout. I love Loomis and St Croix for my steelhead/salmon but do not feel I need to spend big dollars on trout. If they are hitting spinners or bait I don't need the sensitivity of a great drift rod. Just my preference. As a Kid i caught tons on a fiberglass Wright McGill 7 1/2' pack rod with a Mitchell 308. Still use it occasionally, but graphite rods and multiple bearing reels really help.

my favorite is the daiwa spinmatic-x, mine is a 7'(they make them in all kinds of sizes between 4'6 and 8'0, all ultralights).
bought it about 5 or 6 years ago, but i think they run around 30 bucks.

I have two Daiwa spinmatics. 7'UL casting models with 100 series curados. There awesome for trolling on the downriggers and flat lining.

I just had a sweet little g-loomis imx 5ft ul trout rod built up for me. Man now I can trout fish again, after steelhead fishing all the time little 12 inchers weren't doing it for me but with this little beauty they feel much bigger!!

I just picked up a 5 1/2 shimano compre UL and like it very much. For a rather reasonable priced rod it is pretty sensative. I first bought a Falcon 5' and it was ok but a little short for me since I usually use a 7'.
