Strikes me that when you purchase a firearm, they get all your info.
"Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, had previously tried to establish a store in New York City but failed".
Sounds to me that WallyMart is trying to get their foot into New York.

I would expect that just about every store that deals in firearms has a video camera recording their firearms and ammunition areas. It's called security. What's the fuss about?
We shop at Walmart selectively as their prices on some stuff are a bargain. Home Depot, Central Market and Costco get the rest and most of my paycheck.

I agree with Goose...nobody has been ever been caight griping about the local 7-11 video-recording all night long. Frankly, I'm surprised with the advent of all the new and less expensive surveillance gear, that ALL stores don't have a system.
As for Wal Mart...every other big box retailer has to jump through hoops (to put new stores in) due to the damage that Wal Mart has done. Jurisdictions across the country have enactedplanning and zoning restrictions that try to allow others while excluding WM....they may have some good prices, but they simply make for bad neighbors. I, for one, refuse to do business with people I don't like or respect.
