There's a really good custom gun stock maker down in the Kelso/Longview or Centralia/Chehalis area for which I can't find the name and phone number for. Neighbors son has a Win Mod 88 lever action for which he made a new stock for but doesn't have the necessary tools or expertise to drill the thru the butt stock mounting bolt hole. If anyone could help out it would be greatly appreciated. If you know of someone closer to the Hood Canal bridge that can do this work that would also help out.

BTW the rifle appears to likely be one of the first years production of Mod 88's.....anyone recall when Winchester first produced this rifle? Win .308 cartridge and it's in near mint condition. Even with a medium power cartridge like the .308 I'd bet the recoil is considerable as this rifle probably weighs about 6 pounds. Original stock split across the pistol grip. The lad made a stock out of a piece of maple and did an excellent job for his first effort. It's his deer rifle and I'd like to help him finish the project.

Might be....the guy I am looking for does quite a bit of custom stock work and as I recall has reasonable prices.

The 88 is a GOOD RIFLE! I owned a .308 carbine many years ago - shot sub-1" groups! Sorry I ever traded it off!
