FishNorthwest was created by the NMTA. Their purpose is to support the PNW boating industry through lobbying natural resource policy makers to maximize and even increase fishing and shell fishing opportunity. Their original message was that they could do this working in cooperation with the tribes and commercial fishing interests. That message changed quickly to exclude the portion regarding the tribes and commercials when some of us publicly questioned the sanity of such an insinuation. There is little if any details available regarding this organization and boater and I both spent quite a bit of effort looking for it. I do know that Tony Floor and Curt Smitch are part of the organization. Curt was the former director of the WD of Game then WD of Wildlife. During his tenure in that role he was officially petitioned by the Quillayute tribe in the early 90's for foregone opportunity access to the states unharvested share of the Quillayute wild winter steelhead. He granted them permission to do so and justified it by stating that sport fishers were unable to fully harvest their share due to their harvest methods. What he chose to do set a legal precedent for foregone opportunity. After merger of Wildlife with Fisheries into the current WDFW he then became the governors natural resource policy advisor. During those years he opposed the Stordahl gravel mining proposal on the Lewis watershed due to environmental concerns. Following this he became involved with the Fed's in the PNW salmon policy arena where he was instrumental in assisting Stordahl with acquiring a Federal Habitat Conservation Plan(HCP) which would essentially allow gravel mining from the river without any environmental restrictions to speak of. He is now a partner in a natural resource consulting firm which includes Stordahl as a customer. I don't know about anyone elses opinions but I have my doubts about any organizations, including the NMTA, concern for the fish that has as part of it's leadership a politically influential person with such a track record. I also wonder about the NMTA position in regards to commercial fishing as that industry is a customer of many of that trade associations member businesses? I suspect that FishNorthwest is also supported by the back room influences of the Washington state Salmon Mafia who really like their special catch and bonk trophy Chinook fisheries in Grays Harbor and Willapa bay and elsewhere.
Any questions?

Yes. Based on your analysis, why are there a half dozen individuals attacking the CCA while never mentioning this group that seems to be counter to conservation goals?
Maybe they have a lack of integrity? I mean, you either have it, or you don't, right?

I have no idea why? I don't spend much time myself fixated on attacking FishNorthwest and it's parent organization the NMTA as it's a waste of my time. Better to spend my time working for the fish. If someone asks for the info I'll provide it as I just did and leave it up to someone else to expend the effort....I've got better things to do.

Gooose's analysis of FNW pretty much mirrors my own...I can't think of anything to add to it. The players in FNW seem to my mind to be much more self-serving than anything else, which is why you don't hear much about them, I'd guess.

Might as well say it now.....could we not have to experience the current internet war of words regarding the CCA? No need to respond to this request...just please consider the request?

The 'tangled web' part is sure accurate...and the FNW dudes have some serious access...I haven't figured out yet if the policymakers really think these guys represent sportfishers, or just like bowing to them...I know that this sportfisher isn't represented very well by them at all.

boater in your case I doubt if being in the top secret control room and privy to the minute details of the CCA conspiracies would help you personally to know more. You seem to know everything you want to know about the CCA.

Even if the content is mostly stupid...
Show us where CCA supports FNW. Your conspiracy theories are getting tiresome and VERY old.
If CCA is using "free" meeting spaces, what's it to you anyway? We've also met at Cabelas, so does that must mean Cabelas is trying to make money on (gasp) sport fishermen?

there you go again flying off the handle, where did i ever say that the cca supports fishnorthwest or the nwmta ?, i asked you a simple question, i asked if you think its a good idea that the cca holds meetings at a place that belongs to the nwmta and also supports fishnorthwest, why cant you answer a question that seems so simple ??

That's not what you said. Read what you posted again. Work on your sentence structure so you can make yourself understood better. It's hard enough to deal with your lack of capitalization and crappy punctuation.
CCA can hold their meetings any FREE place they damn well please. It's really not any of your business, is it?
The meeting I am attending tomorrow is in a FIRE HALL. Good grief. They must be taking advantage of firefighters too!
