Headed out to a "local" lake last night and finally found my first smallies of the year! My buddy got two, a 3 and a 3.5. I ended up with only one a dink at about 1.5. All fish were on crankbaits.
Here is a headshot of one of his fish:
This morning was a different story. I started throwing crankbaits and got one fish right away. couldnt hook anything else on the crank so I put a jerkbait on and 1st cast FISH ON! Long story short I ended up putting 7 in the boat in about 2 hours. All were quality fish with one pushing 5lbs!
It was one of the best bites I have ever been on. ALL of the fish were suspended under boats.

bacota, ive "heard" the big lake has been good, espically around I-90 and 520.

Well, we got skunked. My buddy broke a nice one off within the first 15 minutes, and that pretty much was the story of our day. Couple other hookups but no feesh in the boat. Nice day though on Saturday. I can't wait for this shot of warm weather - that oughtta get 'em active. Or at least that's my excuse for now

We fished the east shore, starting in Kirkland around Yarrow point, then moved to the 520 bridge pilings and fished our way all the way up to Bill Gates place. Then we went in and fished that bay right in Bellevue (can't remember the name of that bay). Then on the way back to the Kenmore launch we fished the stretch of St. Edwards park with all the laydowns. We threw everything - jerk baits, crank baits, plastics, jigs. I think we just had a case of bad luck.

dont feel bad. I talked to a buddy of mine who is a big time bass guy and he said the barometric pressure dropped friday night, he said it sucked the whole weekend and he knows his stuff

we didnt go for smallies we tried for sea runs there allot of big fish jumping on the south side of mercer the water temp was 53 so get your gear ready this weekend is gonna hit the magic 55 degree water mark fish should be shallow
