Rogue update: river's snortin!
      #333027 - 05/15/08 10:44 AM

4100 cfs out of warm springs dam, river close to 6000 cfs by Grants Pass. Very large numbers of winter steelhead above Gold Ray, but really very little in the way/places you'd have a prayer in hell of getting at them.

Make things more interesting 'they' have the fish ladder at Savage Rapids dam (half way between Grants Pass/Rogue River) CLOSED OFF. Zip water coming through same, I gather for the next three weeks!

Once you get below GP, the river in many areas, tends to widen out so you do have a few bank shows (Matson Bar/Finley Bend or Whitehorse) but with a snow pack of 175% of normal ... this will be 'normal' for quite some time.

Well water flows FINALLY settled down! Still running a tad over 3K cfs, but that's a hell of a lot better than a month ago.

Sad side is there was a boating accident down at Blossom Bar .... will be quite awhile before they can recover the womans body. Jammed under rocks in the center of the river.

Actually Greg, I think she was in a Kayak. But one way or the other the 'group runs' all require the clients ware PFD on the water.

I rafted that part of the river last year with a few guides and used those little inflatable kayaks for most of the time, but they wanted us to be with them going through coffee pot and the rappid where those people went in. I dont like rafting the river much, I would rather fish it!
