This lake is situated 20 minutes west of Port Angeles on hiway 101. Bank acess is limited unless you know a home owner. Two boat launches for this lake. A WDFW launch located near the end of South shore Rd which starts at the East end of the lake. The other is a private pay launch at Maple Grove Estates off 101. The Lake has cutthroat, Kokanees and planted with the rainbows. The real prize in this lake is the Large cuthroat. The lake record is 12 lbs but you have a trophy with any fish near 5 lbs. Water color is a murky green and during the summer months the jetskis and skiboats traffic is heavy. The lake is normally open all year long and chumming is legal in this lake. Check your regs before going. There is a sand bar in the middle of the lake so don't go wide open before learning the lake. Lots of small coves and shallow shelves make bobber fishing a fun time. Expect lots of small fish 8-12 inches.

Fished Sutherland yesterday because I had some time to kill. It was windy and rainy and just miserable. I was fishing off the bank from the public boat launch on South Shore Rd. I only caught 1 fish about 7 inches. The guy next to me caught 3 fish and they were all about 6-8" long. I caught it on a piece of pink powerbait just big enough to float off the bottom and a small piece of nightcrawler. I'd never fished with a nightcrawler and powerbait together, but it seems to work nicely as long as you check that it floats. It was hard fishing in the wind because you couldn't really tell if you were getting a bite or not. Anyways, there are fish in here, but the ones me and that other guy were catching aren't very big.

Sorry I didn't see that you had replied to this until just now. The guy next to me was using orange powerbait. We were both using about a 3 foot leader. He could cast it out there further and I think that is why he got more fish. I say wait until they plant more fish in Sutherland and go to Lake Leland in Quilcene for now. Much better fishing in Leland. You can get 5 fish in a few hours easily.

Just got back from the lake, no fish in 2.5 hrs. Too damn windy to cast straight. I did have 3 nibbles on flo. red powerbait, but heavy wind caused too mush slack to get a good hook set.
I'll try again soon, when the wond dies down. happy easter!

Fished on the 4th, got 3 in as many hours off of a private dock, the fireworks didn't seem to bother the fish. Used the normal flo. red powerbait with sparkles, but had a smallish watermelon corkie 2
