I am kinda new to the west side of the hills and have an urge to do some trout fishing. I dont know any good lakes around here to try my luck. If i was back home i would go to Wenas Lake in the Yakima Valley but over here i am lost. If anyone has any ideas i am willing and able to try them and if anyone wants to go along that would great also. Well thanks for all the help and happy fishing to all.

This time of year you need a year round lake opening. Hmm...Black Lake?? BTW our trout a smaller on the average than the dry side. Big ones do exist..just not as plentiful. Somebody local jump in here would ya

Tom... if you are coming north of Seattle, a good bet is Silver Lake in south Everett. It is right on SR 527. There is a really nice dock which gets you close to some deep water. The lake has Rainbow and Trips, kokanee plus some bass. I have seen some nice fish taken from that dock and I have taken some nice fish on that lake too.
Most of the dockers use power bait floated off the bottom... there are some weeds so set your weight down a few feet from your bait or use a long leader with a sliding weight. Don't forget to bring some worms too. You might be surprised with a 2 or three pound holdover.
This is a year round lake and I drive by it every day on the way to work and the fishing pressure, as you would expect, is quite light during the winter. But on warm days, the fish are rising everywhere.
Good luck

Good advice from maltby, That is also, within a mile or 2 of my work,..... I got a 5# kokanee there as a kid. Also, if you're going this way may'be lake ballinger, (which has an underground stream to lake washington) shhhh, don't tell!
Very good boat access, and a island in the middle(picnic). anyhow, If ya have kid's there is a public beach, summer lifeguard(used too be), barbecue pit's a golf course right next door(underwater ...snorkelin' free ball's...BUCKET'S). So keep that in mind too. If ya want direction's email me. Woodsy Wayne
