For those of you who are in the Snohomish County area, Silver Lake provides an early opportunity to dust off the trout rods and to latch into some nice trout. It is a year round lake but it doesn't get a lot of pressure except from the dockers because the boat launch access isn't the greatest, but if you can get out on the lake some good fishing awaits.

I pass by the lake usually twice a day; just after daybreak and late afternoon/evening. The fish are actively feeding and yesterday as I passed by the dock I saw a fisherman landing what looked to be a large holdover bow or triploid.

I have done the best trolling a wooly worm pattern but have also taken fish on spoons. If you don't have a boat, the dock is excellent and is positioned at one of the best areas on the lake. Most of the fishermen use power bait of various kinds, or combinations of eggs and worms and fish off the bottom because of weeds. The depth off the dock drops steeply and you can cast into 30 feet of water pretty easily and that is where the biggest fish are hanging out.

The only drawback is that the lake sits right on a major hiway and it isn't the most peaceful setting in the world, but if you can tune out the sirens and traffic noise and focus on the fishing and bald eagles, it's possible to have a good time.
