trail cam/scouting outing
      #334504 - 05/28/08 02:44 AM

This morning my dad and I went to check his trail cams and see what's been going on in the woods. When we put them out two weeks ago, I found a bed that really had me thinking.
First tracks we found while walking the road...were cat.

On our way up to the cameras we came across a cedar that was all torn up. This is the first time I've seen fresh bear girdling. It's the only one we saw. The highest tooth marks were about 5' high.

We may have found the culprit. She's kind of small.

Junior's even smaller.

When we put the cams up there was bear scat all over the place. We found a few fresh piles today but not as many as last time.

A lot of trees came down over the winter. This one must have made quite a noise when it snapped. It was a biggun.

My dad said it was pretty heavy.

The bed I found last week is a dandy spot for a big boy. It's in the corner of a clearing where a cedar has fallen and blocked it from the rest of the clearing. It's his own private little triangle. One side is brush, then flat timber. One side is brush then steep timber. The other is a down cedar. And the bed is on a 2-3' tall pile of dirt. Kneeling on the bed I could see over the cedar trunk to view the clearing. It's all locked up. There's no way to view it without getting busted.

This can't be healthy. All this fishing is really messing with my head.
