Just got back from over seas and got to fish a couple of days up in the San Juans. I can only sum it up as amazing. After 2 days fished we landed 17 Ling, kept 4 with the smallest at 30" and biggest was 40". We released 8 that were over 30" and the other 5 were small. The 4 ling we kept not one of them were hooked. They had a hold of that greenling and refused to let go until they were netted. One of them was wrapped around some bull kelp and stayed on while I drove the boat around him. He even looked up at me when I was sneaking the net under him and I thought for sure he was going to let it go before I could net him. We also caught at least 30 Greenling (Biggest was 4 lbs) and countless Coppers. Not one Cabezon though....

Wow, you've got alot of good eats there!
I love the tenacity [sp?] of the lings. Didn't believe that they could be caught without being hooked until I experienced it for myself in the Neah Bay area...truly a greedy predator.
Great trip...thanks for the report and pics.
